There was a time when a phone was, well just a phone. You picked it up and dialed a number you wanted to call. If the call was answered you had your talk and then hung up. That was pretty much it. But over the years the phone has like many other devices in our everyday life become more complex. Of course the complexity is all for our good and we can benefit a lot once we get used to the new features.
We might be familiar with call waiting and voice mail but now there are many more features. Some of the more innovative ones are selective call forwarding where only certain calls get forwarded. There is also call forwarding on busy. Then there is priority ringing. Here when someone calls from a number specified as a priority number by you, the phone gives a special ring tone so you know right away the call is a priority call.
You can also do three way calling and talk to two other persons as a group. This makes it simple to make plans with friends and saves you the bother of calling one friend after the other to convey messages and get responses. For privacy too there are new features now such as selective call reject, anonymous call reject and caller id blocking.
